There might arise a time when you find the standard Issue Field types do not work for you. So it means it is time to create a custom issue field. So lets say you want to know what Major Section an issue existed in. We can do this by creating a Major Section custom field. Go to the Configure Issue Types page and in the "Add new custom field" section enter this:
Custom type: Radio choices
Field name: Major Section
Field label: Section

Once you press the "Add Custom Field" button you should see the new Field at the bottom of the page like the figure to the left.

Now we have the field created we need to edit it so the radio choices exist. We will add the choices as follows:
frt Frontend
bck Backend
dtb Database
This is just an example using the Radio choices option, there are 8 other choices you could have used instead. Now just because you created this custom field it does not mean the system is using it. You will need to go to the "New Issue Type Scheme" you created and for each issue type(bug report, feature request, etc.) you want to use this Section type, you must edit and select the Visible and Reportable options. If you want it to be a required field then you must select that option as well.
